Platelet growth has long been a desirable means of crystal growth for
x-ray detectors. It has, however, proven unreliable and resistant to d
evelopment of a stable process. We will report recent progress in proc
ess development based on chemical thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and h
eat transfer, and experimentation. We will present data showing that a
stable process has been obtained.
