It is expected that nuclear detectors are exposed to radiation when th
ey are used near accelerators. The purpose of this report is to study
the radiation and annealing effects of Au-Si surface barrier nuclear d
etectors, and to make clear deep levels of the defects produced by irr
adiation. Irradiations are performed by 10 MeV alpha-particles with th
e cyclotron. As a result of this experiment, characteristics of the ir
radiated detectors show that reverse currents increase accordingly as
reverse biases increase, and for Am-241 alpha-particle (5.48 MeV) coun
ting response the energy spectra shift to the lower side compared with
that of non-irradiated detectors. The deep levels for the defects are
observed at E(c) -0.39 eV by DLTS measurements.
