A new principle of light collection in long calorimetric cells filled
with noble liquids is developed. A scintillation electromagnetic calor
imeter with liquid xenon and krypton as working media has been built i
n ITEP and tested at the ITEP and MIT (BATES) accelerators. The energy
resolution is sigma(E)/E = 5%/root E for electrons of energy 100-350
MeV with LXe filling; the coordinate resolution is 0.7 cm; the time re
solution for a single cell is 0.6 ns, A light collection technique wit
h the use of a wavelength shifter is described.
