Yv. Vasiliev et al., BGO CRYSTALS GROWN BY A LOW THERMAL-GRADIENT CZOCHRALSKI TECHNIQUE, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 379(3), 1996, pp. 533-535
A low thermal gradient version of the Czochralski technique was succes
sfully adopted for growing BGO crystals, Now the technique allows us t
o grow water transparent, radiation hard crystals of up to 150 mm in d
iameter and up to 400 mm in length. Results of the application of thes
e crystal in the endcap calorimeter of the CMD-2 detector which consis
ts of 680 BGO crystals with a total weight of about 450 kg are discuss
ed.
