Sixteen polymorphic loci controlling ten enzyme systems were studied t
o compare genetic variation in Scotch pine groups differing in life st
ate (degree of crown damage) and grown near industrial factories. Most
indices used to analyze samples grown hear a magnesium plant and copp
er works in Chelyabinskaya oblast showed that genetic variation was hi
gher in less damaged trees.
