Abstract
Mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry, coupled by a thermospr ay interface to a high-performance liquid chromatography system and eq uipped with a photodiode array detector, were used to determine the pr esence of nitroaromatic explosives and their degradation products in U SA unsaturated-zone water samples. Using this approach, the lower limi ts of quantitation for explosives determined by mass spectrometry in t his study typically ranged from 10 to 100 ng/l.
