Interaction of high-intensity laser radiation with matter was found to
be accompanied by a self-induced modification of the spectrum because
of the scattering of the radiation out of the mass-transfer zone back
into the laser cavity This autodyne effect proved to be useful in dia
gnostics during laser processing of materials, particularly in identif
ication of the type of biotissue in the course of its destruction.
