CdTe0.9Se0.1:Cl is a detector grade material for gamma and X-rays. Its
high resistivity and the high mobility lifetime product yield a high
charge collection efficiency of 90 percent. CdTe0.9Se0.1:Cl was used f
or the first time to built up a strip detector. The detector performan
ce was investigated by a Co-57 source. The signal behaviour, charge co
llection efficiency and coupling effects were analyzed for different s
trips. The comparison between the signal amplitude of all strips showe
d a good homogeneous response for the device. For a single strip a cha
rge collection efficiency of more than 40 percent was obtained.
