Sr. Goldberg et al., HELMINTHS FROM 3 TREEFROGS HYLA-ARENICOLOR, HYLA-WRIGHTORUM, AND PSEUDACRIS-TRISERIATA (HYLIDAE) FROM ARIZONA, The Journal of parasitology, 82(5), 1996, pp. 833-835
The gastrointestinal tracts, lungs, and urinary bladders of 3 species
of treefrogs from Arizona were examined for helminths. Hyla arenicolor
(n = 30) and Hyla wrightorum (n = 53) were infected by Cylindrotaenia
americana, Cosmocercella haberi, and larvae of Physaloptera sp.; Pseu
dacris triseriata (n = 20) harbored Falcaustra catesbeianae. The highe
st prevalence (33%) and greatest mean intensity (112.2) was recorded f
or Cosmocercella haberi in H. arenicolor. The helminth fauna of these
treefrogs is depauperate and consists of different species than those
of other Arizona amphibians.
