C. Flytzanis et al., THE ROLE OF PHOTODARKENING AND AUGER RECOMBINATION IN THE DYNAMICS OFTHE OPTICAL-RESPONSE FOR CD(S,SE) NANOPARTICLES, Journal of luminescence, 70, 1996, pp. 212-221
We first recall the main linear optical properties of semiconductor-do
ped glasses in the strong confinement regime. We then discuss the orig
in of the photodarkening effect and its consequences on the luminescen
ce and absorption spectra. Photodarkening and, at high excitation inte
nsity, Auger processes strongly modify carrier recombination as studie
d by time-resolved luminescence measurements. This is further supporte
d by using nonlinear optical techniques such as optical phase conjugat
ion. We finally recall the origin of the nonlinear response of such me
dia in the resonant regime and the size dependence of the correspondin
g figure of merit.
