A 2D imaging structure, using chlorine doped cadmium telluride connect
ed to a read-out circuit by indium bumps, was characterized with a 70
kV dental X-ray tube. The imaging capabilities of such a structure wit
h an experimental device of 100 mu m pitch are presented. The theoreti
cal resolution limit, due to K escape photons and photoelectrons, was
computed by a Monte Carlo code simulation for 100 and 50 mu m pixels.
Experimental measurements of dynamic range, linearity, line spread fun
ction, signal to noise ratio and modulation transfer function are real
ized.
