LEGISLATION ON THE INTRODUCTION OF EXOTIC NEMATODES IN THE US

Regulatory procedures and safeguards concerning the introduction of no n-indigenous nematodes as biological control agents into the US and in terstate shipments of nematodes are outlined. Examples of the use of n on-indigenous nematodes in biological control programmes in the US are cited. A possible way to expedite the issuance of permits required fo r foreign shipments is explored.
