For an analysis of the electromechanical oscillations under transient
conditions in large electrical power systems (EPS), it is assumed that
they generate certain indices: an integral index, which reflects the
decrease in the kinetic energy of mutual oscillations of the synchrono
us machine rotors in the EPS, and the equivalent time constant of damp
ing of the transient process. The results of computer calculations for
a complex EPS are given, confirming the correctness of the indices pr
