A. Garland et Hl. Paz, OUTCOME OF MARROW TRANSPLANTATION RECIPIENTS REQUIRING INTENSIVE-CARE, Seminars in respiratory and critical care medicine, 17(5), 1996, pp. 359-363
Critical illness in the setting of blood and marrow transplantation is
associated with very high mortality. This is especially true for pati
ents with respiratory failure and septic shock, which account for a ma
jority of intensive care unit admissions. Identification of specific o
utcome predictors for cohorts of these patients has been limited, Comm
only used scoring systems usually overestimate hospital survival in th
ese patients. Accurate predictions will be required to address discuss
ion of withholding and withdrawing Life-support.
