Eb. Dogan et al., BIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF CONVERGENT LADY BEETLE (COLEOPTERA, COCCINELLIDAE) FEEDING ON APHIDS (HOMOPTERA, APHIDIDAE) ON TRANSGENIC POTATO, Journal of economic entomology, 89(5), 1996, pp. 1105-1108
We exposed larval and adult Hippodamia convergens (Guerin-Meneville),
convergent lady beetle, to Myzus persicae (Sulzer), green peach aphid,
reared on potatoes expressing delta-endotoxin of Bacillus thuringiens
is tenebrionis. Because the toxin may be ingested by the aphid, the be
etle may in turn be exposed to the toxin. However, we measured no stat
istically significant effect on survival, aphid consumption, developme
nt, or reproduction in beetles.
