Abstract
We have developed a series of JFETs specifically designed for energy d ispersive spectrometer preamplifiers. These have very low channel and generation-recombination noise both at room temperature and at low tem perature. We discuss the design of JFETs for low noise, present some r esults using these with room temperature operation, and discuss furthe r possible improvements.
