Abstract
A new technique for characterizing the distribution of elements on the nanometer scale over large areas is described for heterogeneous catal yst research. The method exploits recent developments in electron micr oscopy involving energy-filtered imaging and digital image recording. The new approach allows relatively large regions to be characterized i n reasonable times. The technique is employed to study the elemental d istribution in a NiCuCr catalyst.
