The present article analyzes the shielding effectiveness of coated, la
minated and nested shields. For wavelengths which are long compared wi
th the shield dimensions, a two dimensional analytical solution for ar
bitrary cross sections is derived considering skin effects. The applic
ation of the method to three dimensional shields results in good appro
ximations, apart from appreciable errors in the edges. Further, a tran
smission line model is presented. Different examples of combinations o
f non magnetic and magnetic materials are discussed in detail. Finally
, the potential of material savings by multiple shields is investigate
