Abstract
An experimental method is presented, which allows of complementing the safety data currently used for the characterization of the combustibi lity of powders. The method yields information on the energy required for ignition. Based on this additional information, the elimination of effective ignition sources - well established in the field of explosi on protection - can be also applied for fire prevention in case of dus t layers and heaps.
