S. Zane et al., OLD ISOLATED ACCRETING NEUTRON-STARS - THE DIFFUSE-X-RAY EMISSION FROM THE GALACTIC-CENTER, The Astrophysical journal, 471(1), 1996, pp. 248-253
The contribution of weakly magnetized (B similar to 10(9) G) neutron s
tars accreting the interstellar medium to the diffuse X-ray emission o
bserved in the Galactic center is investigated, It is shown that, unde
r rather conservative assumptions about the neutron stars and gas dist
ributions, the accretion luminosity can account for a sizable fraction
, possibly most, of the detected X-ray flux in the 2.5-7 keV band. In
particular, model results are compared with Granat data and show a gen
eral agreement in both the Bur energy and radial distributions.
