Abstract
The GH2 allele of the ovine growth hormone (GH) locus contains two GH gene copies, GH2-N and GH2-Z. We describe a GH2 allele in which the tw o gene copies are polymorphic for PvuII sites at the second exon and a t the second intron. PvuII-restriction analysis of pituitary-derived c DNA of a non-lactating ewe, homozygous for that GH2 allele with the 1. 0+1.3+3.5 kb PvuII restriction pattern, suggests that in that ewe, onl y the GH2-N gene copy was expressed.
