Abstract
We have studied the conditions under which metastable phases are forme d during the electrodeposition of metals and alloys. It has been prove d that the major causes of metastable phase formation during the elect rolyses of aqueous solutions are high dispersion and defectiveness of electrodeposits and the inclusion of nonmetallic impurities in the ele ctrodeposits. A mechanism for the formation of supersaturated solid so lution and of amorphous phases in the process of electrodeposition of binary alloys has been suggested.
