Abstract
A self-consistent two-dimensional model is extended to include two-mod e operation and is applied to study the characteristics of ridge-waveg uided high power quantum-well lasers. This work provides physical insi ght into the most recent experimental result that the use of low-ridge and thin p-clad gives rise to high single lateral-mode output and low threshold as well.
