Abstract
A symmetry forbidden [2 + 2] dimerisation of 1,2 dihydronaphthalene to 5, 6, 6a alpha, 6b beta, 7, 8, 12b beta, 12c alpha-octohydro[a,i]biph enylene proceeds non-photochemically via an oxovanadium complex, in hi gh yield.
