Abstract
A new spingosine mixture in which the -palmitoyl-2-amino-1,3-dihydroxy octadeca-4,8-diene (6) is the major component has been isolated from t wo soft corals - a new species of Lobophytum and Sinularia conferta Da na sensu Tixier-Durivault 1951 of the Andaman Br Nicobar Islands. The spingosine has been characterized by chemical and spectral studies.
