A new class of second-order nonlinear optical material: 2-[1-(4-butylp
yridinio)]benzimidazolate dispersed in poly(methyl methacrylate) was i
nvestigated by the Maker fringe method using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser
(1064 nm), indicating that the poled film exhibited the second-order
nonlinear optical coefficient, d(33), of 1.8 +/- 0.2 pm V-1.
