The strategic importance of logistics is steadily increasing and compa
nies need effective logistics support to achieve competitive advantage
. Warehousing strategy is an essential element of the overall distribu
tion logistics strategy and especially the decision of selecting optim
al sites for warehouses has significant effects on customer service an
d logistic costs. The warehouse site selection is a complex process wh
ere multiple, both tangible and intangible, criteria need to be consid
ered. However, many of the present methods supporting the process rema
in cost-oriented. In the paper, we present an integrated approach to t
he site selection process where both qualitative and quantitative aspe
cts can be taken into account by using an analytic hierarchy process-b
ased decision aid.
