Abstract
The role of the analyticity of the running QCD coupling constant in th e description of the inclusive decay of a tau lepton into hadrons is i nvestigated. It is shown that the analyticity of the coupling constant strongly influences the values extracted for both alpha(s) and the pa rameter Lambda from the experimental data on tau decay.
