In this paper a FE model for the study of the out-of-plane buckling of
reinforced concrete walls is derived. The concrete is modelled using
non-linear orthotropic 16 d.f. plate bending elements; the reinforcing
steel using elasto-plastic beam elements. In the plane of the structu
re stresses are calculated using either four or eight-node membrane el
ements with bar elements used for the reinforcing steel. The buckling
load is calculated by determining when the determinant of the out-of-p
lane tangent stiffness becomes zero. Comparison of the FE model with a
vailable experimental results shows good agreement. Copyright (C) 1996
