Abstract
Semi-rigid connections are rarely used in tall building frames. In thi s paper, the mixed use of rigid connections with semi-rigid connection s for tall building frames as a way to reduce costs is investigated. U sing the three-parameter power model for semi-rigid connections, a fou r-bay eight-story frame is numerically analyzed with four combinations of mixed use of rigid and semi-rigid connections. It is shown that no rmalized building drift Delta/H can be kept under 1/400 by properly se lecting the combination of rigid and semi-rigid connections. Copyright (C) 1995 Elsevier Science Ltd.
