Plasmodium falciparum infection causes serious symptoms in the acute p
hase of the illness. Long-term sequelae are less common. In the follow
ing case report we describe a patient who developed hypopituitarism af
ter a severe cerebral malaria infection, which was only recognized 17
years thereafter.
