A series of six new complexes of beryllium(II) and of magnesium(II) wi
th 3-chloro, 3-bromo and 3-iodo derivatives of lawsonemonoxime (2-hydr
oxy-1,4-naphathalenedione-1-oxime) of the type [BeL(OH)](2).2H(2)O and
[MgL(2)(H2O)(2)], where L represents the anion of 3-halolawsonemonoxi
me, have been prepared and characterised on the basis of elemental ana
lyses, thermogravimetric analyses, molar conductance, infrared spectra
and electronic spectra. A dimeric structure for the Be(II) complexes
and an octahedral geometry for the Mg(II) complexes has been suggested
