P M IN ITALY - PRESENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS

The revue of P/M activities in Italy covers the industrial sector tech nical and trade associations, high schools and universities, and resea rch. Industrial activity focuses on sintered components and bearings, hard metals and ferrites, metal powders, and equipment. Major technica l bodies are AIM and Assinter: Several programs exist at the high scho ol and university level aimed at increasing awareness of P/M. There is a strong level of research on-going in P/M but cooperation between in dustry and the academic community needs to be strengthened Future pros pects for P/M in Italy are encouraging.
