Abstract
A simple and inexpensive change in the powder injection molding sinter ing procedure increases the tensile properties of stainless steel and reduces operating costs. Nitrogen was alloyed with 316L stainless stee l powder in a nitrogen gas environment to produce an interstifial nitr ogen concentration of approximately 0.4w/o and a yield strength in exc ess of 375MPa.
