Dm. Cino et al., ECONOMICAL RESULTS IN A DAIRY SYSTEM WITH A PROTEIN BANK OF GLYCINE (NEONOTONIA-WIGHTII), Cuban journal of agricultural science, 30(3), 1996, pp. 235-239
An economical analysis was performed during two years (1986-1988) at t
he Institute of Animal Science on the use of a dairy production system
based on the grass and legume combination Panicum maxi mam Jacq (guin
ea) and Neonotonia wightii (glycine) grazings. The cost of production
and the performance of some economic indicators were analyzed (product
ion value, returns, unit costs, milk production, grams of feed/kg of m
ilk produced and others). The relationship between the principal eleme
nts of cost (x) and milk production (Y) was estimated through regressi
ons. The cost of production of the litre of milk was 0.18 cents, the p
roduction values were stable and economically satisfactory. The level
of feed expenses did not surpass 50 %. with respect to the total produ
ction expenses Feed and salary were the most significant elements of c
ost (P<0.05), with linear adjustments of R(2)=0.64 and 0.94 in the rai
ny and dry seasons, respectively. The system could be a favorable alte
rnative taking into account productions above 12 kg/animal/day, as wel
l as the low costs of production end the advantages of using as a prin
cipal element in the diet, graminae and legume grasslands.
