The drainage of a thin Liquid film confined between two crossed hydrop
hobic cylinders was theoretically investigated. The role of hydrophobi
city was revealed in the slippage of liquid over the solid. An equatio
n for hydrodynamic resistance force to the approach of the cylinders w
as derived. It was shown, that this equation may be presented as a pro
duct of two factors, one of which is the resistance to motion of two h
ydrophilic cylinders, while the other is the correction for slippage t
hat depends only on the ratio of the slip length and the gap at minimu
m separation. The derived expression allows one to correct the results
of measurements of hydrophobic attractive forces obtained with the dr
ainage technique.
