Abstract
Dogs and cats with uremia may display abnormalities of essentially all parts of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Abnormalities may be mild o r severe. They may result from inflammation, edema, erosions, ulcerati on, and/or necrosis. Clinical signs of GI complications or uremia may include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and GI b leeding. This article discusses the GI manifestations of uremia accord ing to anatomic sites and also describes the management of common clin ical problems as they relate to uremic GI abnormalities.
