Abstract
Children from ages 9 to 11 years, as well as adults, express a prefere nce for the picture of a cat with constricted pupils in relation to th e same picture with dilated pupils. There was no difference for childr en from ages 4 to 6 years. The discussion concerns the mechanisms and determinants of these affective attitudes.
