G. Wilk et Z. Wlodarczyk, HOW CAN STRANGE QUARK MATTER OCCUR DEEP IN THE ATMOSPHERE, Journal of physics. G, Nuclear and particle physics, 22(10), 1996, pp. 105-111
Motivated by some recent cosmic ray experiments, we study the properti
es pf strange quark matter near flavour equilibrium. Using the Fermi-g
as model we argue that, contrary to some claims, the geometrical radii
of quark matter strangelets are not smaller than, but rather comparab
le to, those of ordinary nuclei. We propose, therefore, a scenario of
propagation of strangelets through the atmosphere which still allows f
or their deep penetration.
