Abstract
We report on a collinear laser spectroscopy measurement of the nuclear charge radius of Ca-39 (l = 3/2), yielding delta(r(2))(40,39) = -0.12 7(16) fm(2). Within the experimental accuracy, the N = 20 neutron shel l closure has no influence on the charge radii of the calcium isotopes .
