Adsorption of inulinase onto STREAMLINE (TM) ion-exchange adsorbents i
n the absence and presence of Candida kefyr cells has been studied. Th
e favourable adsorption pH was in the range of 6.5 and 7.0 using the w
eak anion exchanger (DEAE). In the case of the strong cation exchanger
(SP), pH 4.0 was found to be appropriate. The adsorption isotherms fi
tted to the Langmuir equation well. Expanded bed adsorption performed
with original cultivation medium showed enzyme recovery of 93%. The en
richment and the concentration factors were 5.8 and 2.8, respectively.
The presence of cells did not cause problems.
