T. Dimpfl et al., RESULTS OF ADJUVANT CHEMOTHERAPY OF THE O PERATED HIGH-RISK CERVICAL-CARCINOMA, Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde, 56(10), 1996, pp. 517-519
Patients with carcinoma of the cervix and histologically proven blood
vessel invasion have a poor prognosis. At the I. Frauenklinik der Univ
ersitat Munchen, 34 women were enrolled for a prospective study and we
re alternatively treated with or without adjuvant chemotherapy (carbop
latin and 5-fluorouracil). Of the 28 patients included in the follow-u
p (14 with/14 without chemotherapy), 12 patients died (5 with/7 withou
t chemotherapy). The disease-free interval was 18.6 months in the grou
p treated with chemotherapy compared to 29.3 months in the group witho
ut chemotherapy. There is no statistically significant difference in t
he survival of patients with blood vessel invasion in relationship to
adjuvant chemotherapy following radical hysterectomy.
