Abstract
The solubility of NpO2OH(am) was measured in NaCl solutions ranging fr om 0.30 to 5.6 molal at room temperature (similar to 21+/-2 degrees C) . Experiments were conducted from undersaturation and allowed to equil ibrate in a CO2-free environment for 37 days. The apparent solubility products varied with NaCl concentration and were between 10(-9) and 10 (-8) mol(2) . L(-2). Using the specific ion interaction theory (SIT), the log of the solubility product of NpO2OH(am) at infinite dilution w as found to be -8.79 +/-0.12. The interaction coefficient, epsilon(NpO 2+-Cl-), was found to be (0.08+/-0.05).
