INFRARED PHOTONIC SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FEATURE - INTRODUCTION

The IR is an active specialty within the broad scope of optical scienc es and engineering. In Applied Optics papers are published dealing wit h such diverse topics as basic concepts in IR technology, including em issivity, and the theory of IR detection mechanisms as well as the dev elopment of novel instruments used for IR applications.
