Abstract
Data of 5-year series of spring observations (1985-1989) on an element al composition of a ground aerosol in eastern Arctic regions (Island W rangel, SP-28) are systemized. Mean values of concentrations of 29 che mical elements, that are listed in this paper, characterize background aerosol in the eastern sector of the Arctic Ocean. Only 5 aerosol sam ples (out of 67) were identically compared to large areas-sources, suc h as North America, West Europe (2 samples), Japan and eastern Syberia (Baikal). It was shown that in spring the concentrations of the most of chemical elements in the eastern Arctic are higher than in a centra l Arctic. Elements of primarily terrigenous and, by contrast, nonterri genous were noted.
