Two quasiparticle-plus-rotor band mixing calculations have been carrie
d out to study positive parity yrast band based on pi(11/2) x nu h(11/
2) configuration in the odd-odd Pm-136,Pm-138 nuclei, in order to asce
rtain the shapes of these nuclei. In the case of Pm-136 the calculatio
n favors a prolate deformation but for Pm-138 this model seems to indi
cate an oblate deformation for the above mentioned positive parity yra
st band. However a more extensive and accurate measurement of the deca
y properties of the levels are felt necessary in the latter case for a
rriving at a conclusion in this regard.
