M. Awano et al., MICROSTRUCTURE CONTROL OF AN OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTOR BY A HYBRIDIZATION PROCESS THROUGH GRINDING, Advanced powder technology, 7(3), 1996, pp. 233-244
A synthetic process for the nanocomposite of a Ba2YCu3O7-y superconduc
tor and silver was examined. Hybridization through grinding promoted t
he unform dispersion of silver ultrafine particles (of the order of 10
nm diameter) in the Ba2YCu3O7-y matrix. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP)
sintering suppressed the undesirable grain growth of silver of the ord
er of 100-300 nm in the sintered body. Enhancement of both superconduc
ting transport current and magnetic flux pinning properties was promot
ed by the control of the post-annealing condition of the HIP body.
