The reactions of methacryloyl isocyanate (MAI) with imines derived fro
m ketones and alkyl amines led to the formation of the corresponding 2
H-1,3,5-oxadiazin-4(3H)-one, 1,3-oxazine, piperidinedione, and/or 1-al
kyl-1-alkenyl-3-methacryloylurea, whose relative yields greatly depend
ed on the reaction conditions as well as the nature of imine. The latt
er three compounds correspond to products arising from the reacion of
MAI with enamine tautomers of imines.
