Acoustical-phonon-assisted resonant magneto-tunnelling in a double-bar
rier heterostructure has been considered. The calculations have been c
arried out within the coherent tunnelling model where the tunnelling c
urrent is related to the intra-H ell electron Green function. The magn
eto-tunnelling device is shown to be a convenient tool to study electr
on-phonon interaction since the effective coupling factor increases wi
th increasing magnetic held. Our numerical calculations as well as ana
lytical results for several limiting cases demonstrate that both de an
d differential conductance profiles are sensitive to the presence of n
on-equilibrium phonons, as well as to their frequency distribution. In
particular, we believe that our results can be useful for detection a
nd spectroscopy of non-equilibrium acoustical phonons.
