Abstract
The statistics on cigarette smoking prevalence in Irish adults show th at considerable progress was made during the 1970s and 1980s, with dec lines in men and women, and in different age and social class grouping s.(1) These trends were confirmed in population surveys carried out by the Kilkenny Health Project.
